Quiet

Does anyone else ever have a hard time just sitting and being still? Being quiet? Even in a sense of letting your mind be quiet. No thoughts, no checking off your to do lists, just being still and quiet. This song by Elevation Worship has been on repeat in my spirit. I’ve needed it this week in a sense of it’s what the Father was wanting to speak to me. Here’s some of the lyrics and then what he is showing me through them. My thoughts will be in the parentheses.

Here we go again, my mind racing
And I can’t seem to win
All these crazy thoughts and feelings
It’s like it never ends
Until Your voice, breaks through my noise
I know I’m not alone, not alone
(How many times do we let our mind take over? Over thought take over and continue racing to the point it causes us stress or anxiousness? How many times is his voice trying to break through the noise of our anxiety or thoughts but it’s up so loud we can’t hear him? The best part is we are never alone.)

“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.””
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You will fight my battles if I will just be still
Why would I keep running when You’re right here?
(Why do we feel the need to keep running to the wrong things when the only thing we should be running to is the Father? He tells us in Psalms to “be still and know that I am God.”)

I’ll just be quiet
And let You speak through the silence
Here I am, no more hiding
You are in this moment, I won’t fight it
I’ll be quiet

(Sometimes we feel the need to hide things from the Father like he doesn’t already see them or know what we are feeling. We have to quit fighting the silence and just be quiet. Sit. Listen. Rest. Lean in. Lay it down. Hear his voice.)
